ADVANCED VALUES IN ENGLAND
EMPLOYMENT IMPROVES

RUGBY, 26th September. The money value of retail sales in Britain jast month was 4.8 per cent, greater than in August , 1933.5a1es of food and perishables advanced by 4.5 per cent., and other merchandise by 5.1.
For the first seven months of the trading year the t-otal retail sales showed an increase of 3.2 over the corresponding period of 1933. Stocks at the end of August, 1934, were of a lightly higher value than in 1933, and employment in the retail trade showed-.an improvement of 3 per cent, '
