It was pointed out- that Collingwood was a dead end as regards road communication. that the road would be an advantage to business people and the travelling public, and that the scenic beauty on tile rc-ute was unsurpassed. On th & motion of Mess re Wilkinson and Hiokmott it was decided that Rockville F.U. he informed that the Riwaka branch supported the request, at the same time expressing regret that the Minister s answer to the request for the completion of the Collingwood-Karamea l’oad had been unsatisfactory Ihe lasnian-blapua branch forwarded tlie following resolutions for consideration: (1) That in order to give the Producers’ Transport Committee a definite standing your branch endorse tho proposal to form such committee and to appoint a delegate to act on such committee. The Nelson branch F.U. forwarded a circular letter, in which it was suggested that Cawthron bulletins should be prepn.ied in booklet form every year, and that the Provincial Executive would assist financially. It was mentioned that transport matters had now become of sufficient importance to members for the executive to setup a transport sub-committee, to winch the following seven members had been appointed: Messrs A. Rowling I. Llewellin, R Teece. J. Dicker A N Wilkinson, J. Martin, and A. E. Max. This committee, it was stated, was not intended in any way as an indication of no confidence in any committees which consider the interests of producers with regard to transport; but was intended to act in conjunction with any such subcommittees in order that tlie influence of the union might bo available for their support.

It was felt that the general interests of members should be watched through, out tho whole provincial district, and the sub-committee was therefore appointed, ior this object, and would act in any matters raised either by local sub-com-mittees or by individual members. In tlie circular it was stated that the Rotarv Club had invited the executive to suggest the names of farmers who would care to take advantage of the invitation to have lunch with the Rotary Club on their annual Farmers’ Day. it was proposed to hold tlie luncheon on the same day as the next executive meeting, which would be a Monday late in September. Mr Hobson thought that the Cawthron bulletins printed in booklet form would be much appreciated by farmers. It was decided that this suggestion be supported. Mr Wilkinson asked if tlie Transport Committee set up some time ago and which had devoted a great deal of time in the interests of nroducers, was to take second place to tho one mentioned in tlie circular from Nelson. It was pointed out, in reply, that it was the intention that all committees should co-operate in this matter. The meeting agreed that the matter of attending the Rotary Club’s luncheon he i left to the delegate. Tlie Ngatinioti branch F.U. wrote extending an invitation to members to attend a “smoko” on Friday. 31st August. It was resolved (the chairman and Mr Hobson) that the Riwaka branch approve of the principle of setting up a Farming ■Accountancy Association, as outlined bv the Otago Farmers’ Union.

The remainder of the evening was devoted to an address, given by Mr J. Martin, dealing with tlio business transacted at the Dominion Conference.
