FANCY DRESS PARTY
GAY FUNCTION AT WAKAPUAKA
The Foresters Hall at Wakapuaka presented a gay appearance when over one hundred parents ad children attended a children’s fancy dress party. The ball was decorated with streamers of the badge colours, spring flowers and greenery. About sixty children were in fancy dress and Miss Aydon judged the costumes and Miss Fowler supplied th e music. The children spent a happy evening playing games after which they sat down to supper. The following were the prize winners: Prettiest girl, under six, early Victorian (Lois Palmer); prettiest boy, under six, Chinese boy (Pat Dodson); special, “80-Peep” (Barbara Templeman); most original girl under six, “Florence Nightingale” (Phyllis Taylor); most original boy, under six, “All Black” ( Ellen); special, “Robin Hood” t Eden); prettiest girl under ten, “Bo Peep” (Margaret O’Bierne); prettiest boy under ten, Scarlet Pierrot (Reg Gill); most original girl under 10, Umbrella (Nancy Cummings); most original boy under 10, Swagger (Rolstori Harris); special, Golliwog (Noel Charles); prettiest girl under 14, Fairy (Elsie Whitwell); prettiest boy under 14, Black and White Perriot (Joe O’Bierne); most original girl under 14, Washing Day (June Charles); most original boy under 14, Speed King (Vernor Giil).
