In a peep-proof garden surrounded by a twenty foot fence the first conference of the Natural Sun and Air Society was held at Linchley. Members, ranging from elderly men to a girl aged four, included Non-Corfonn-ist clergymen, solicitors, doctors and other professional men, and one Japanese. There was a minority of women. The chairman, Mr Hugh Shayler, in his address, said, “We are not freaks, we advocate perfect equality of the sexes, parties and races. Free access to sun and air confers enormous benefits physically and mentally.” Later nude men and women wandered about the garden and house, took tea, entered organised games and physical exercises.
