DEPUTY=GOVERNOR APPOINTED MR W. F. L. WARD (By Telegraph—Press Association) , WELLINGTON, This Day. The appointment by the Governor-General-in-Council of Mr W. F. L. Ward as Deputy-Governor of the Reserve Bank of - New Zealand as from Ist May was announced yesterday by the Minister of Finance. Mr Ward recently retired from the position of inspector of the Bank of Australasia in New Zealand after 45 years’ service with that institution. Mr Ward was born in ’Marton in 1871, being the second son of the late Judge Robert Ward and a. grandson of the late Rev. Robert Ward, an early missionary who arrived in New Zealand in 1841. ' He was educated at Wanganui Collegiate School and joined the Bank of Australasia; at Wanganui as a boy of 16.
