OIL FROM COAL
PLANS IN AUSTRALIA (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copy right) CANBERRA, 21st April. A small committee is to be appointed to report upon the question of establsliing a plant in Australia for tlie production of oil from coal by the hydrogenation process. The Ncwnes Investigation Opnunit(ee considers that Ncwnes is the most economical location for retorting and treatment plant for the production ot oil from shale. It suggests that a company be formed with a capital of £OOO,OOO. Since the appointment of tlie committee reductions ill petrol prices have decreased the retail value of the proposed output from Newnes by about £IOO,OOO per annum.
