MIRY BOARD’S PUBLICITY PRAISED

PRAISED BY ENGLAND’S LARGEST BUYER

One of the best tributes ever received by the Dairy Board in connection with its publicity work in England, came before it at its meeting.this week when the New Zealand Producers' Co-operative Marketing Association, fo; warded a letter received from Mr J. A. Hewett, head buyer for the C.W.S. in Lancashire, and reputed to lie the largest individual buyer of dairy produce in Great Britain. "Yes,” says Mr Hewett, "we have made wonderful progress with New Zealand butter and cheese, thanks to the help of the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board who are giving demonstrations, publicity stunts, etc., and

can say with truth that Now Zealand produce has come to stay. “Present values are, of course, an incentive and we arc doing everything possible to persuade our societies’ buy ers to take up the sale of Empire produce, and certainly New Zealand is re* reiving preference at the moment. Our figures for the last half year show an increase of about l)S per cent, in Xew Zealand, and Danish figures for the same period have decreased about 3 per cent.’’ In a covering letter, the secretary of the Xew Zealand Producers’ Co-op. Marketing .Association staled that tremendous strides had recently been made in the Midlands, and they believed that, with tiie assistance of the Dairy Board, there was tremendous scope still available to extend these markets further. The statements given in the letters above serve to refute statements which are sometimes made in Xew Zealand to the effect that the Board's publicitv is not achieving its object in England.
