NELSON EXECUTIVE MEETING WORK OF VALUATION COMMITTEE DATE FIXED FOR ANNUAL CONFERENCE At a meeting of the executive committee of the Nelson Farmers’ Union held in the Waimea County Council room, there were present: Messrs K. .1. Holyoake (president, in the chair), R. Tcoeo, D. 1. Llewellin, A. E. Max. W. I). Dron, O. C. Bird, P. V Anderson, W. B. North, M. G. Crosswell. O. E. .lordan. A. N. Wilkinson, d. P. Prouse, R. C. T. Ruble, and the, treasurer. Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs L. Al. Palmer, A. Rowling and ,). Martin. Arising from the minutes the chairman reported ' that a meeting of the Valuation Committee had been called and was at the time deliberating in the secretary’s ollice. Tn regard to stoek sales Messr Wilkinson and North reported upon the discussion with the auctioneering firms and it was resolved that the companies he advised that the union considers the arrangement of stoek fairs at apjiriate periods during the year would he helpful in securing to farmers the market prices for stock throughout the district.

Mr Llewellin for Ngatimoti residents, reported having interviewed the Commissioner of Transport and the chairman of the local Licensing Authority in regard to transport matters and it was thought that the granting of pas singer licenses for lorries would overcome the (lilliciiltv in the meantime. The chairman reported having interviewed the Postmaster-General and a letter was read advising that a special weather report was being issued. The Women’s Division requested a donation towards the cost of a tent. It was decided that the e.\eutive contribute a proportion of the cost.

ANNUAL CONFER ENCE On the motion of Messrs Wilkinsrin and Max it was resolved that the annual conference he held at 9.30 a.m. on the Bth June unless Dominion Executive Conference -arrangements precluded this date, in which case it be put forward one week. .It was resolved on the motion of Messrs Max and Prouse that the Mayor of Nelson he invited to open the conference. It was further resolved that the executive meet at 9 a.m. on this day to consider the accounts. It was resolved on the motion of Messrs Teece and Jordan that the secretary be instructed to advise brandies that they were under obligation to forward to the executive audited copies of their annual accounts.

On the motion of Messrs North and Llewellin it was .resolved that a resume of the executive’s important work he forwarded to Point Blank for publication after all executive meetings. At this stage Mr Higgins, the chairman of the Valuation Committee attended and reported progress and it was resolved that 1 Messrs Prouse and Paine he attached !to the committee as full members. On the motion of Messrs North and Llewellin it was resolved that the secretary and the Valuation Committee ascertain reasonable out-of-pocket expenses of members and forward in from time to time a detailed account to the executive for payment.

RULES It was resolved on the motion of Messrs Max and Llewellin that with regard to the suggested amendment of the rules, this executive suggest that the matter of the numbers and arrangements of provincial executives should he left to each province to decide.

It was resolved that the executive state on the membership cards that a list of hotel and other concessions is obtainable from the secretary. On the motion of Messrs Wilkinson and Tceee it was resolved that the matter of Colonel Row’s visit he left until the annual conference, the secretary in the meantime to find out from Colonel Row what date would he convenient.
