RETURN OF SEALERS
NEWFOUNDLAND WELCOME BEST CARGO FOR 10 YEARS ST. JOHNS, 2nd April. The sealing licet was given a rousing welcome to-day on its return with the greatest cargo in 10 years—more than 250,000 nelts. The entire countryside was dressed up for the occasion. Not a single mail was lost this year during the fleet’s hazardous foray into the northern floes. The leading ship was the Boetliic, with the grizzled Captain Abram Kean making iiis ship's record unequalled in history. lie is 78, and for 66 years—without once missing—lie has gone out on the ice, and becomes the only shipmaster who lias brought a total of 1.000,009 pelts from the Arctic.
