BRITISH AND EMPIRE GAMES

NEW ZEALAND’S PARTICIPATION . NOMINATIONS CLOSE SOON (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. A brief survey of what has happened up to date in connection with the Britisli Empire Games, which will be held in London from 4th to 11th August this year, was given by Mr McCormick, chairman of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Associaticr. at the annual meeting. Present indication were that the New Zealand team would sail early in June, and return here at the end of September. An invitation had been received from Canada for the New Zealand team to compete there either on the way to the Games or on the return journey. The Olympic council had decided that it was not practicable for the team to compete in Canada on the way to London. Whether it would be practicable to return via- Canada would probablv be decided when the team was in England. The team would probably consist of six or seven men. It was decided that the final selection of the team should be left to the executive, and that nominations finally close on 20th April.
