AUSTRALIAN AIR ROUTE
COMPLETION OF FINAL SECTION RESPONSIBILITY OF COMMONWEALTH (British Official Wireless) R.UGBY, lltli April. Replying in the House of Commons to a question Sir Philip Sassoon, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Air, said it was hoped that the final section of the Australia air route would be in operation by the autumn. He recalled that the regular service to Singapore bad been maintained since December. The Commonwealth Government was taking the responsibility for the final section, Singapore to Australia. Regarding services to and across Canada, Sir Philip Sassoon said that no concrete scheme for a transatlantic air searvice was at present under discussion. He understood that considerable progress had been made with the establishment of a chain of landing grounds across Canada, but he was not yet in a position to give any more detailed information.
