DEVELOPMENT OF WHANGAREI
ARRIVAL OF OVERSEAS VESSEL OCCASION BEING CELEBRATED (By Telegraph—Press Association) WHANGAREI, This Day. An important stage in the development of Whangarei marked the arrival of the Antonio, which has come to New Zealand from Nova Scotia with a full load of newsprint. Drawing eighteen feet she was berthed easily at the recently completed Kiorcroa wharf, where she is discharging 200 tons of newsprint for the “Northern Advocate.” Hitherto it has been necessary to tranship newsprint to Whangarei. The pioneering visit of the Antonio is being suitably celebrated.
