WEDDING

JOHNSTON—GOODMAN (From Our Own Correspondent) The wedding, on Saturday, 31st March, in tlie Motueka Presbyterian Church, of Jessie Gwendoline, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs H. L. Goodman, to Herbert McKenzie, only son of Mr and Mrs 11. H. Johnston, of Nelson, created much interest in Motueka, where the bride has resided for many years. The bride, escorted by her father, wore a beautiful gown of white wool lace, tlie long veil of ivory tulle being caught to the hair with sprays of orange blossom. Her shower bouquet was of orchids. The matrons of honour were attired in autumn shades. Mrs George Moller, of Blenheim, sister of the bride, wore a smart frock of beige wind-swept satin with a large beige coloured hat, trimmed with brown velvet. She carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted begonias. Mrs Dash, of Hawera, sister of the bridegroom, wore a graceful frock of needle run lace and a brown hat to tone. Her bouquet was also of autumn-tinted begonias. Mr K. J. Holyoake, M.P., was best man, and Mr John Clark groomsman. The Rev. Mr Murray Feist officiated and Mrs T. Ovens presided at the organ. The church was tastefully decorated by the girl friends of the bride. A surprise awaited tlie bridal party, as they left the church, a guard of honour being formed by the local footballers. (Tlie bridegroom was a member of the Huia Club during his residence in the district.) Following tlie ceremony a reception was held at “Taueru,” tlie beautiful home of the bride’s parents, where a number of guests assembled. Mrs 11. L. Goodman received the guests, wearing a graceful gown of beige and brown lace with large picture hat to match, and handsome stone marten fur. She carried a bouquet of autumn flowers. Mi's H. H. Johnston wore a fi'ock of bright navy wind swept crepe de chine with large hat and furs. The happy couple left in the evening in a new car, the gift of the bride’s father, on a tour of the South Island.
