LITTLE HOPE OF SUPPORT
WELLINGTON, This Day
“No consideration has yet been given to the question,” the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) said when asked if any decision had been reached by the Government in connection with the suggestion that New Zealand should enter a machine for the Melbourne Centenary Air Race. Inquiries made in Ministerial circles indicate that the Government docs not feel inclined nor does it feel justified in using public funds to support such a project, particularly at the present juncture. Little hope, was entcitained of the Government finding any money for the proposal, and it was generally agreed that any funds available could b e put to far better purpose than finaeing the air race.
