POWER BOAT REGATTA The Lake Rotoiti Power Boat Regatta was held in glorious weather before a large gathering of the public £ W *».l Mnv]l»oro„gh »>« other parts of the South Island as many motorists >vm- «».*!► tace’ of the camping facilities on Rotoiti Domain. The event proved a erreat success, all the races were keenly contested and some very close finishes were seen. The principal event, the Raglan Shield Race, resulted in O I. Say comiim Ist, Heather 2nd, and Bellbird 2. Five yards separated first and second boats. ... Ladies’ Handicap: Purity (Mrs Dixon) 1; Fav (Miss Dixon) 2; O. I. Say (Mrs Potter). 3. The ladies in this race proved themselves very capable helmswomen. Invitation Handicap: Eve 1; Fay 2; Grey Lynn 3. A very close finish 30 yards .only' separating the first four boats. ( ■ Farewell Handicap: Britannia 1; Eve 2. This was the closest finish of the regatta, the result being in doubt until the finish when Britannia came to the front to win by six feet. A very enjoyable day was brought to a close by the presentation of trophies by the club’s president, Mr H. Wilkes, after which cheers were given for the club’s officials who had all worked hard to make the regatta such a success.
