EASTER HOLIDAYS
PROGRAMME OF FIXTURES The fine weather to-day promises favourable conditions for at least the first part of the Easter holidays which will generally he observed by shops and offices from to-day until Tuesday. To-night wilL be late shopping night in the City. To-morrow, Good Friday, will be celebrated by special services in the churches including an inter-church Three Hours’ Service arranged by the Nelson Ministers’ Association in All Saints’ Church in the afternoon. In the evening an appropriate organ recital will be held in the School of Music.
The South Island Rifle' Association’s championships will commence tomorrow on the Wakapuaka range, and the meeting will be concluded on Saturday. The Nelson Easter bowling tournament also commences to-mor-row. The tournament, which will be played on the Nelson club’s greens, will continue until Tuesday when the finals will be played. On Saturday the Nelson provincial golf championships will be decided on the Nelson Club’s links at Tahuna. In the afternoon the annual rowing races between the Kawatiri (Westport) and Nelson clubs will take place on the harbour.
At Motueka on Saturday the Aero Club’s new aerodrome at Hau will be officially opened and in tlie afternoon a- gymkhana will be held on the cricket ground. The evening entertainment will be a boxing tournament. On Sunday tlie Riwaka Pioneers’ Memorial, the Cairn of Remembrance, on Old Pah Hall, will be unveiled. On Monday in Nelson a representative cricket match between Nelson and Wairarapn will be commenced at Trafalgar Park and tlie game will lie completed on the following day. At Motueka the Annual sports meeting will be held and at Tapawera the annual dog trials have been arranged. During the holidays the Petone Rugby team will visit Motueka to play tlie annual match against Motueka, and a party of Wellington Druids will pay- a visit to Nelson.
