DESPERATE HUN BATTLE THREE LEADERS KILLED (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) CHICAGO, 22nd December. In a desperate gun battle to-night the police killed three leaders of a gang of escaped Indiana convicts responsible for many recent crimes here, including the murdering of a policeman. After locating the criminals’ hide-out, Detective Captain John Stege surrotuiilocl'The apartment building witii twenty hea-vily-armed men and at a signal they crashed into the building. They were met by-a burst of .shotgun fire. The lights were immediately extinguished. For over a minute the police continued tiring blindly, and the criminals returned the liitj until killed.
