MONETARY SYSTEM
INQUIRY TO BE HELD (From “The Mail’s” Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, 22nd December. It is the intention of the Government to set up a Committee or Commission to hear evidence from those who are of the opinion that the -'resent monetary system should be improved. This announcement was made by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) in the House of Representatives.
Mr Forbes said that the matter hyd been discussed by Cabinet, and be bad told a deputation that a committee would Vie si;l up and those holding certain views on moiietarv policy could state their views before it. Mr 11, Mc-Kcou (Labour, Wellington South): “Will you set that committee up early in the year?” “It wiii he set lip oarlv in the. year, replied Mr Forbes, who said that it would include one or two Parliamentarians and experts, and they would report to the Government.
