It was all very well for Richard and Ted to say they would not be long. They had not thought of the difficulty of getting the boat ashore. It took them some time to land, and when it came to pulling the boat from the water, they could never have managed had not a fisherman hurried to the rescue. Quite a lot of time had passed before they were ready to begin their race.
