OFFENDERS BEFORE MAGIS= TRATE’S COURT SUBSTANTIAL FINE IN; ONE .CASK Several cases of illegal use of the hose 7 in Nelson City were brought before Mi" T. E. Maitnsell, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court this morning. " Arthur Gregory and Thomas Lonegnn > were each fined ss, costs lOsi .'...'Charles Walter Pitts-Brown, whose explanation., that lie had made a mistake in the times- - for hosing was accepted by the Council’s water inspector (Mr A.'C. Snow), was convicted and ordered to pay costs 10s. ■ Francesco Fiataroni -was also charged * with illegal use of the hose. ■ The inspector’stated that on 7tli De—comber, when the hose was totally, pref- '' liihifed, defendant had a hose- from an unmetered tap, running into d well, ; '* from which was pumped water-for-a-tomato garden. The inspector said it was the most serious case he had bad -so--far, as the water position at the time was most serious. ' ; ' " Mr W. V. Fletcher, who appeared on behalf of the Council in each case, asked’; for a substantial fine in view of the circumstances. ’' l " A fine of £3, costs 10s, was imposed. .
