RAIN AT AUCKLAND
WEATHER NOW CLEARING (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, 21st December. Hard north-easterly squalls with heavy lain were experienced in Auckland last night and early this morning. Th fota 1 rainfall up to 9 o’clock to-dav was .98iu. This is the first substantial fall of rain there has been this month, and, as it appears to have been fairly general iii tile province, it will be beneficial. Some light rain has fallen this morning, but tile barometer towards midday appeared steadier, and there is some hope that having got a much-needed downpour Auckland will have fair weather for Christinas.
