From the kick-off Athletic were soon on the attack and Beveridge again put in in nice run, dribbled right in close and sent in a beautiful shot which Kilby saved cleverly by turning round the post for a corner. Beveridge placed the corner well, and a melee ensued in Y.M.C.A. goal area, tlie ball eventually going to Banks, who shot hard from close in, tiio ball just skimming the bar. Smalley cleared nicely for Y.M.C.A. when Athletic were pressing hard, but Banks let Butler away, the latter centring to Richards who skimmed the bar with a lovely shot. The goal kick gave Y.M.C.A. reiief, and Black let Ellwood and A. Du Fen and A. Du Feu away. The lastnamed put in a rasping shot which McKellar cleverly diverted round the post for a corner, Ellwood placing nicely. •!. Du Feu met the ball and shot, McKellar listing out to 0. Du Feu, who put in a stinging shot which just hit the ] outside of the upright and went behind for a goal kick. Athletic had a breakaway and Gould shot high from well out. Again Y.M.C.A. attacked and Athletic -defence was being sorely tried, Mansell being particularly good on defence. However A. Du Feu nearly scored with a hot shot which McKeilar saved for a corner. Ellwood placed well and Mansell headed back to Ellwood, who centred again in line style to J. Du Feu, the lastnamed shooting, but McKellar again turned the ball round the post. 0. Du Feu placed the corner nicely, Mansell clearing for Athletic. Baldwin receiving, sent the ball on to Gould, who shot from well out, the ball bouncing in front oil Kirby, but the latter saved well and punted well uplield to J. Du Feu and 0. Du Feu. Butler intercepted a pass and cleared to touch. From the throw-in. by llobern, 0. Du Feu gave the hall to j. Du Feii, who attempted a hard shot, but Bourne blocked the attempt, the ball twisting to Stevens who shot high. Y.M.C.A. were awarded a free kick just outside the penalty area. Stevens took the kick ami shot high. Y'.M.C.A. wore striving hard to equalise, and A. Du Feu put ill a fine shot, McKeilar again saving. Athletic attacked, Bunster being compelled to concede a corner. Athletic then had three corners in succession; the first two Beveridge placed well, but Bunster put behind for further corners. The third kick Beveridge put behind, and the goal kick gave Y.M.C.A. relief. Baldwin and Gould both had shots which went high, and Y.M.C.A. got away when one of tlie prettiest movements of the game ensued, in which all tlie Y.M.C.A. forwards combined. The ball eventually went to Ellwood who just missed with a lovely shot. A. Du Feu put in a solo run and finished with a great shot which McKellar saved well and kicked to touch as the half time whistle sounded with the scores—Athletic Old Boys 1, Y.M.C.A. 0. The second spell saw Athletic start a fast pace, evidently with the intention of forcing the game. Richards and Gould broke away together, the latter sending the ball to Beveridge who finished the effort with a splendid shot which Kirby could not touch; but Bunster cleared well. Gould came away again. Bunster tackled well and passed to A. Du Feu, who drew his man nicely and gave Ellwood a nice pass, with only the full-back to beat before shooting. Ellwood tricked Mansell well by tipping the ball on and followed in fast, shooting just before being tackled by Butler. The shot was just a trifle far away for McKellar who threw himself full length in an attempt to save, and managed to tip the ball, but was unable to divert it past the upright. A corner to Athletic was well placed by Butler, Bunster clearing to Bourne, who transferred to Richards to put in a nice, centre to Mills, to shoot, but the ball twisted to Butler. Alexan-

Y.M.C.A. attacked, hut over-anxiety found the forwards offside on two occasions in a. few minutes. Mansell cleared nicely for Athletic, blit Munster returned the hall to Kliwood who made a great run. in combination with A. Du Feu. Ellwood finished tho move with a fine centre which MeKellar fisted clear. Athletic, aided by Banks and Bourne, had another try, hut Alexander and (Smalley were on their game and cleared nicely. Kliwood, Stevens and J. Du Feu were prominent in a nice passing movement. Time was getting very close, and Aethlctic put in a final ellort to equalise, (iouid and Richards combining well. Mr J. (fuy refereed. SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP HAMPDEN ST. V. CENTRAL This was one of the best school games to date, and Central worked very hard to defeat Hampden st. Sciiooi as this was the last championship game of the season. However, Hampden st. retained their unbeaten record for the season, and snatched victory by the only goal scored. AUCKLAND FT. V. TAIIUNANUI The game between Auckland Point and Talmnaniii was played at Taliunanui, being witnessed by a large number of spectators. Auckland Point were rather fortunate in defeating Taliunanui by the small margin of 1 goal to nil. Tile senior schoolboys championship is now concluded, and Hampden street are to be congratulated on their splendid performance during tile season. They have participated in fifteen games to date, ami never suffered one reverse. Another picasing feature to the Association is the closeness of the points in the other schools. Auckland Point by their win on Saturday managed to defeat Central for third position on the latter. •The Championship table is as follows:
