AMALGAMATION RECOMMENDED 'British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 18th August. The report of the commission consisting of Sir Charles Fergusson (chainnan), Sir Charles Orr, and Mr McNeill Campbell, of the Colonial Office, which has ben dealing with the question of c oser union of the Leeward Islands, Windward Islands, Trinidad, and lobago, recommends that the islands forming ie colonies of the Leeward and V mdward islands be united into one colony under a Government with headquarters at bt. Lucia. The report states that whatever advantages may have accrued from the amalgamation of Tobago with irmidad, the former has always been a financial burden to Trinidad since the amalgamation, and Trinidad is strongly adverse from embarking on more experiments m the direction of closer union with other islands.
