Included in the presentations to Mr C. H. Broad on his retirement from the position of Principal at Nelson College were two additional tokens from the -teaching staff in the form of a College Shield of different- woods and a walking stick of inlaid woods for Mrs Broad. Both were very fine examples of craftsmanship and were the work of Mr W J. Brown, the woodwork instructor at the College. In addition the College domestic staff presented Mr and Mrs Broad with a set of crystal. Mr Broad in expressing thanks said he and Mrs Broad had always been proud of their domestic staff..
According to General Orders received in Nelson to-day Major H. V. Searle lias been awarded ihe Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officer’s decoration for 20 years service as an officer. Tlie N.Z. Service Medal (for 12 years service as an officer) has been awarded to Captain C. W. Johnson, Lieutenant A. J. Gray and Lieutenant G. D Simpson.
