ANNUAL TOURNAMENT MATCHES AT WELLINGTON

The annual inter-collegiate tournament, with Christ’s College, Nelson j College, the Wanganui Collegiate School, and Wellington College as the participants, will provide much activity at Wellington College on Saturday and Monday, and there will also he a big gathering of boys, past and present, to make the occasion one of the most memorable in the history of the tournament (says the “Post”). Two matches will be played on Saturday and again on Monday, and there is every prospect of the games being well up to the best standard of the past. In the event of a drawn game in the first series the team placed highest in the tournament last year gives way to its opponents for the match winners v. winners in the second series, hut with a draw in this final match the teams are bracketed as winners of the tournament. OLD BOYS TO MEET By way of a preliminary to the tournament an inter-island match has been arranged, and this will he played on Saturday, commencing at 11 a.m. The teams will be made up of old boys who are hopeful of raising a gallop on the football field, though their day as ! regular players is regarded as done. Thirty-minute spells have been set down as sufficient for them in this j effort to come back. The old boys, j however, are keen to throw all their i weight into the contest, and in one case at least it should he felt—the weight of one of the North Island forwards is set down at lCst. Wanganui Collegiate School and Wellington College Old Boys will make up the North Island team, and old boys of Christ’s I College and Nelson College will join i forces as the South Island combination. !Mr G. TIME OF FIXTURES The tournament fixtures are as follows : Saturday: Wanganui Collegiate School v. Wellington College, 1.30 p.m.; Christ’s College v. Nelson College, 2.50 p.m. Monday: Losers v. Losers, 1.30 p.m. ! Winners v. Winners, 2.50 p.m.
