MAUNGANUI AND MAKURA
HEAVY WEATHER AT RAROTONGA
FORCED TO LEAVE ANCHORAGE
(By Telegraph—Press Association;
WELLINGTON, This Day. The Makura from San Francisco arrived two days late because of heavy weather encountered at Rarotonga. She leaves this evening for Sydney, where she is clue on Sunday. Although northwesterly weather is not unusual at this time of the year at Rarotonga, it is seldom sc severe as to force liners to leave their anchorage, which both the Maunganui and Makura had to do on this occasion. They were at Rarotonga together owing to the stewards’ dispute at Wellington having delayed the Maunganui.
