IN MEMORIAM

AIRS B. HUDSON A correspondent writes : —lt was with the deepest feelings of regret that it became known on Monday that Airs Beatrix Hudson, of Shelbourne street, Nelson (wife of the late Dr. Hudson) had passed away on Sunday night. Her death has removed from our midst one. of those very rare personalities who was loved and revered by all who knew her: one who, in a quiet unassuming manner daily practised the great fundamental of Christian living. Her life was a life of love, and there are" many who will have occasion to remember her with the greatest gratitude. Living always under severe physical difficulty herself, she was always the first to offer loving sympathy and practical assistance Jo any one in trouble, and no one in need of help or advice was ever turned away from her door. During the trying years of the war and the influenza epidemic, she spared no pains and counted not the cost in her efforts for the welfare of those among whom she lived in Tapawera, and a more noble and self-sacrificing life would indeed be hard to conceive.

Like her husband before her, her her whole being was devoted to the task of helping others, always putting them first and herself last, and her example is one that we could all follow with great benefit to ourselves. The many friends coming from far and near to attend the funeral service in the beautiful little church at Stoke bore ample testimony to the place that she held in the hearts of all who knew her, and it was indeed fitting that the graveside service should be taken by one of similar character in the person of the beloved Archdeacon Dart. To those who are left to mourn her loss, our hearts go out in deepest sympathy, while we one and all join in thanks to God for such a noble example of Christian Jiving.
