SWIMMING CARNIVAL

INTERPROVINCIAL COMPETITION NELSON Y. MARLBOROUGH RELAY The Nelson Amateur Swimming Association has decided to hold another swimming carnival at the Municipal Baths on Saturday night next at 7.15 o’clock at which a Marlborough representative team will compete. It was also decided to hold the 100 yards men’s Nelson district championship and the 50 yards ladies’ district championship. At last night’s meeting Mr J. Carr on behalf of the directors of the Workers’ Co-op. Society presented, with suitable remarks, a very fine trophy for competition among swimmers of the distinct to be known as the Workers’ Co-op. In-ter-club provincial Challenge Shield. This shield lias been set aside for competition by club representative relay teams and will be contested for the first time at Saturday’s carnival, when a representative Marlborough team will challenge Nelson. The Nelson team which was chosen last evening is open to challenge by any member of the N.A.S.C. before Thursday evening, 6 p.m. and is as follows: W. Gray, C. Brown, A. Nightingale, and K. Bowden.

The club president, Mr L. Condell, expressed the appreciation of the Association to the Workers’ Co-op. Society, and expressed the hope that the trophy would promote keen sport in the district. After the Carnival a dance, conducted by the Ladies’ Swimming dub, will be held in Velma Hall.
