Comment upon the attitude of certain witnesses in wit holding evideme calculated to shed light on the actual manner in which . William Lawrance Walker, aged 17, met his death while rabbitim-' with companions at Norlhopo on 14th January, was made by the Coroner, Mr E. C. Lcvvey, S.M., at an inquest to-day. "It is very unfortunate that this 1;M should lie liindc the subject of a small and rather pitiful display of restrain! bv two or three of his companions." said the Coroner. “The Court feels that the whole story has hot been told. Mini that what could have been nuii.e simply explained has been withheld from the Court. They have made themselves morally foolish about, it. and have chosen to make a mystery of it all. ■Mv finding is that the deceased met his deaill from the effects of a gunshot wound in his right side, but the e,v;deuce is too indefinite to sav liovv or in vvhal manner the gunshot wound v"‘i inflicted.” During the hearing ot the evidence ;he Coroner appeal'd for more frankness and told one witness ho was keeppig something hack.
