HEAVY MORTALITY
COLD WAVE IN UNITED STATES 130 DEATHS REPORTED CONDITIONS IMPROVING (United Presa Association—By Elect no Telegraph—Copyrigli t/ NEW YORK, 10th February. The cold wave started breaking today, although low temperatures are still reported in sections of the east and mid-west. Heavy snow is predicted in the eastern section. Although there are higher temperatures, the death toll is now estimated at 130, while millions of dollars worth of damage has been done to crops in many areas. The New York relief service is still heavily taxed, and lodging houses are filled to capacity. The police are allowing vagrants to remain in heated subways.
