SUCCESS OF LLOYD BARRAGE (British Official Wireless') RUGBY, 9th February. Tlie Lloyd barrage at Sukkar, India, has now been open just over a year, during which time practically all the ,iry.iin canals have been in operation. Despite the difficulties of changing from the old inundation system, the first year’s results have been satisfactory, the total area irrigated before and after the main south-west monsoon being barely 2,000,000 acres, an increase of 166,000 over the pre-barrage average. Sales of land in the barrage area are proceeding satisfactorily, and extensive rail and road development have been or are being undertaken.
