AMATEUR SMUGGLERS

Over £150,000 was collected in Britain.in 1932 front amateur smugglers endeavouring to conceal dutiable goods, principally jewellery, liquor, tobacco t perfume, anti silks. Baggage has been so thoroughly examined since the wider imposition of duties that smuggling is decreasing. Only flagrant cases are taken to Court. Offenders are mostly women, who are often ordered to pay double duty.
