“CHARLIE CHAN’S CHANCE”, MAJESTIC TO NIGHT Two widely contrasted character roles are played in “Charlie Chan’s Chance,” the Fox Films dramatic thriller, screening to-night at the Majestic Theatre, and both are those of Orientals. Warner Oland, widely famed for his Chinese characterisations, portrays the role of the suave and soft spoken detective from Honolulu, and Edward Peil, Sr., appears as a scheming and merciless Oriental. Both Oland and Peil are blessed with facial contour adapted to their roles and are masters of makeup in addition to being splendid actors. The plot has to do with the solution of a bewildering murder mystery by the brilliant and analytical Chinese detective who follows seemingly insignificant clues until he brings the criminal to bay, incidentally clearing of suspicion a boy and a girl who are in love. The cast includes Alexander Kirkland, H. B. Warner, Ralph Morgan, Marian Nixon, James Kirkwood, Linda Watkins, and James Todd. “Charlie Chan’s Chance” is John G. Blystone’s fifty-fourth directorial effort for Fox Films. MAJESTIC AND REGENT THEATRES, SATURDAY Two outstanding productions will be screened at the Majestic and Regent over the week-end. The Majestic has as its attraction the talkie version of “Over the Hill,” which as a silent picture broke all existing records in its day and now that speech has been added its appeal is 100 per cent, greater. The Regent will screen the great Robert Louis Stevenson mystery classic “Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde,” a picture that has startled the world with its magnetic force and mysterious theme. Seats should be reserved for Saturday.
