CLIVE BROOK, REGENT SATURDAY Paramount’s “24 Hours”, starringClive. Brook, Kay Francis and Miriam Ilopkins, will;be presented on Saturday and Monday at the Regent Theatre.; i It; reveals how several people, within the. 1 short span of two turns of the clock, arei sunddenly precipitated into an unusual and dangerous situation. From the moment these men and women are shown at a fashionable dinner party, to that exciting and breath-taking moment twenty four hours later, when one of the men, the debonair Jim Towner,, is .arrested for the murder of his paramour, “24 Hours” builds and maintains suspense with compelling effectiveness. HowTowner attempts to prove himself innocent of the crime with only his loyal wife willing to believe his strange story, carries this picture to its dramatic climax. As Jim Towner, the gifted Clive Brook is cast in one of his most interesting and engaging roles. Kay Francis as Towner’s estranged wife, is also effective in a convincing role. GEORGE ARLISS AS “ALEXANDER HAMILTON” In “Alexander Hamilton’ the Warner Bros, production which comes to the Majestic Theatre to-night, George Arliss portrays the fiery champion of human rights when he was at the age of forty. Mr Arliss being slight and thin of face, was able to play the part without elaborate makeup- when ho did it so successfully on the stage fourteen years ago, and so well preserved is the man of past sixty, that comparatively little makeup was needed for the screen version. A brown wig skilfully moulded to his head, a temporary process for. .removing what few wrinkles he has, some grease paint properly applied, and the transformation was amazing. • Ruddy vigorous, he had suddenly become the ardent young Hamilton, whose susceptible heart is moved by the pretended woes of the notorious Mrs Reynolds. Another reason that makes the Arliss metamorphosis so startling is the fact that he has been seen in old men rales in “Disraeli,” “Old English” and “The Millionaire.” Featured in support of Mr Arliss are Doris Kenyon, Dudley Digge-s, Alan Mawbray, Rolfe Harolde, June Collyer, Charles Middleton, Moniague Love, Lionel Belmore, Morgan Wallace, Gwendolin Logan, Town T. Murray, Charles Evans, John Larkin, Evelyn Hall, Russell Simpson and James Durkin.
