FALL IN REVENUE Figures released for publication by the Railway Department show that the revenue for the four-weekly period ended 25th June last amounted to £408.781, as compared with an expenditure of £398,037. The net revenue was thus £10,744. The revenue on the North Island main line and branches was £199,228 against an expenditure of £212,480, and on the South Island main line and branches the revenue was £151,054 and the expenditure £148,910. The total revenue from Ist April to 25th June was £1,410,500 the total expenditure was £1,224,307, and the net revenue £192,258. The totals for the corresponding period last year were: Revenue, £1,504,390; expenditure, £1,352,053; net revenue, £211,743.
