Mr Alex. Brown, son of Mr Irvine Brown of the Anchor Shipping Company, arrived in Nelson this morning on a short visit to his parents. Since MiBrown left Nelson three years ago he speut some considerable time in the shipbuilding yards on the 'Clyde, Scotland, and then joined the Blue Funnel Line steamer Tyndareus trading between China, Japan, Canada and the United States. At present Mr Brown is on the engineering staff of the s.s. Kent of the Federal Line, and rejoins .his ship in Wellington on Thursday for the return trip to England.
The Education Board at yesterday afternoon’s meeting appointed Mr J. W. Jopp to act as its representative on the Westport Technical High School Board in succession to Air A. W. Henley, resigned.
The appointment is announced of Mr J. J. L. Burke to be Registrar of Land in Wellington. He is also appointed de-puty-Registrar-General of Land, and will in the meantime carry out the duties of Registrar-General, no appointment having been made to that office.—Press Association.
