BENNO MOISEIWITSCH
AT SCHOOL OF MUSIC TOMORROW
The iir!, of Bemio Moiseiwitsch needs
io introduction to Nelson music-lovers
ns he is engaged oil. his fourth Dominion tour. Writing of his, opening Australian concert in Perth, the local Press stated:
—“Moisoiwitsch in his present season in Perth lias revealed the amazing technique and sense of rhythm which markmi previous performances. These qualities were most happily present in his playing of Each, and notably that line Prelude and Fugue for the organ with which lie commenced his first concert. 'There has been added, however, a. fine and careful sense of balance, and in (his respect perhaps the outstanding item from his programme has been the Beethoven Appassionata, the Chopin Studies, and Schumann’s Etudes Symphoniques (an immensely difficult performance). For sheer technique there is nothing to rival the Liszt trausposil'on of the Tannhauser overture, and his No. 6 Rhapsodic was brilliantly done. Not the least interesting of all items was a rhythmic dance from De. Falla’s modern opera, La Vida Breve. If was played with fine accent, and reached an exciting climax. Other composers in Moiseiwitsch’s repertoire included Palmgren, Mendelssohn, Debussy, Medtner, Scriabin, Stravinsky, and Delibes ” The opening concert will take place to-morrow (Tuesday! evening. A final concert will be given on Wednesday evening. Entirely different programmes will be presented on each even-
ing. The tour is under the direction ol J. C. Williamson Ltd., and Mr Maurice Ralph will manage the concert.
