NEW ART GALLERY
GIFT TO CHRISTCHURCH (By Telegraph— Plena Association) CHRISTCHURCH, 17th June. , The new Art Gallery, a gift to tho city by Mr R. E. McDougall, was officially opened by the Mayor yesterday. The erection of the new gallery in the Botanic Gardens was made possible by tho gift, four years ago,’ of £25,000 by Mr McDougall, who is a keen collector and patron of art. Tim appreciation of (lie citizens of Cliristeimrcli of Mr Me Don gall’s publicspiriteduess was expressed by the Mayor. The donor said ho was pleased that the design of the gallery was the work of a New Zealand architect.
