AT GENEVA

VIVID DESCRIPTION EUROPEAN COMPLICATIONS FRANCE AND HER SATELLITES (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 15th April. A vivid description of European complications as seen at Geneva was given by Mr Greenwall, the “Daily Express” special representative, who depicts the scramble of the Balkan Powers for money, France was seeking further powers to help her satellites, while she herself was choked with hoarded gold. It was true that France had lent millions of francs to Jugoslavia and Hungary, but had benefited largely by orders for munitions placed by these Balkan countries. The works at Lo Creusot, and the Skoda works, formerly Austrian but now Czechoslovakian, had received many large orders for tlie Balkan States. The financial commission of the League, which expressed regret that so much was spent on war preparations, recommends a loan of 13,500,000 dollars to Austria, and 10,000,000 dollars to Greece. It was clear that the hegemony which France established in 1919 was beginning to totter now that France had conceived the idea of making the League a super State, but, says Mr Greenwall, “unless France abandons tlie idea America will not remit a cent of war debts, while I understand that Britain has definitely decided not to grant any help to the Balkan countries unless she is convinced that they desire to help themselves.” GREEK FINANCIAL CRISIS (Received 16th April,'9.so a.m.) GENEVA, 15th April. M. Venizelos told the League that Greece would be unable to balance the Budget without suspending debt payments abroad. He hoped this would be billy temporary.
