MOVING DAY
BERLIN LEASES EXPIRE BERLIN, Ist April. To-day has been moving day in Berlin. An unprecedented number of households are seeking fresh quarters—usually smaller and cheaper. Every available vehicle from pantechnicon to hatidbaiTOW lias been pressed into service, and owners of removal vans arc likely to be kept busy for nearly a month to come. Not only arc bad times causing removals. An additional impulse has'been the decree formulated m December authorising the termination of house and business leases, irrespective of bow long they had to run, on Ist April. The result has been that, practically the whole of the rent-paying population has given notice. Although landlords of dwelling houses are not complaining business and commercial properly owners are seriously situated.
