NO. 5 SCHEME
ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES
MONEY IN SAVINGS BANK MAGISTRATE CRITICISES FORM 'By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Seven men were charged before Mr Mosley, S.M., with obtaining money by false pretences from the Unemployment Board. No convictions were entered but the Magistrate in most cases ordered a refund of the whole or part of the money. The cases, it appeared, were the result of the wrong filling in of application forms for employment under No. 5 scheme, and the Magistrate criticised strongly the manner in which the forms were drawn up. The form, it was shown, referred to “investments” and the applicants claimed that they were unaware that money in the Savings Bank was an .“investment.”
