Terrific thunderstorms are causing widespread damage in Britain, France and Belgium. A storm raged all tlio afternoon in London accompanied by torrential rain and tliunderclups. Train tunnels are flooded and all traffic from Kings Cross station is held up and tram tracks in various suburbs are flooded. Several people wore struck by lightning. A fisherman using a metal rod was struck and rent in twain. Lightning seat fire to a tram car. At Southampton a. fireball crashed into an hotel roof. A lent in which ten North African soldiers were sheltering at Laou, in northern France, was struck by lightning and eight were killed. Four farm labourers in Blois district were killed and farm buildings set on lire and cattle killed.
