PALMERSTON NORTH, This Day. The hearing concluded of a Supreme Court case in which Florence Margaret Baker, widow, and clerk to the Dannevirke County Council, claimed £SOO for alleged libel from Osgood and Drury, motor cycle importers, and Stanley Osgcod, director of the firm, as tho outcome of a letler written by Osgood to tlie chairman of the County Council. His Honour, Mr Justice Reed, said it was clear that statements in the letter were libellous. It was also clear that they were entirely untrue, as the defendant Os'good admitted in the box. As the statements in the letter had not been widespread those who heard them exonerated the plaintiff. His Honour held that it was not a case for heavy damages Judgment was given for £SO against both defendants.
