POOLTA STRIKES HEAVY WEATHER
TURNS BACK ON JOURNEY

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
Shortly after 10 o’clock this morning the Union coastal steamer Pooita arrived at Lyttelton. She had been blown back to Bank's Peninsula after being 29 miles off Dunedin. She ran into what her officers describe as the biggest seas they have ever encountered. At one stage, though at full steam, she was actually 40 miles astern in four hours. She then, , r turned and came to Lyttelton for fresh supplies.
