THE GOOD TEMPLARS

NELSON AND TAHUNA The weekly session of the Hope of Tahuna was held in the Public Hall. Following a Temperance lesson and usual routine business, presided over by C.T. Bro. R. Snowden, Bro. Watson initiated four candidates to membership; He spoke a few appropriate words on the many advantages of belonging to the Order of Good Templars with its world wide circle of members and temples. The four new members were Arnold Howard, Jack Gough. Thorndon Mills, and Chum Marshall. Bro. Watson made special mention of the Chief Templar and the secretary, stating that they carried out their,duties with credit during the past quarter. The election of officers for the ensuing quarter then took place with the following results: C.T., Bro. Donald Terry; V.T., Bro. John Corby; Secretary Bro R .Snowden; Gh., Bro. Leslie Bovey; F. Sec., Bro. N. Liddle; treasurer, Bro. A. Howard; Mar.-Bro. Leslie Turner; D.-Mar., Bro. Jack Marshall; Guard, Bro. Tom Vass; Sentinel, Bro. J. Gough; assistant secretary, Bro. D. Snowden; Past-Chief Templar, Bro. R, Snowden. It was announced that the installation of the new officers would take place at next session, and that Bro. Watson would bring down materials for a game competition and would give two prizes to the winners. The members were reminded that next Saturday the temples’ football match would take place on the Tahuna Recreation ground. The session closed with a competition, the three first being Bros. R. Snowden, L. Turner and D, Terry, each one receiving a prize. The weekly session- of the Hope of Nelson Temple was held in the Methodist School Hall, presided over by Bro. J. McEwan. A short series of games was held. The election and installation of officers were deferred till next session. Attention was drawn to the temples’ football match to be held at Tahuna next Saturday, and regret ' expressed that the Nelson team would not be able to attend. It was announced that following the election and installation at next session, Bro. Somerville, S.J.W., of Tahuna, would provide a programme.
