DEATH OF AN OLD SETTLER MRS WILLIAM GOODALL (From Our Own Correspondent) Ail old and highly esteemed resident of Riwaka, Mrs William Goodall, passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 80. Mrs Goodall was the daughter, of the late Leonard Stilwell and was Born in Riwaka, where she resided all her life. She was married in-' 1870 to the late Mr William Goodall, who predeceased her 43 years ago. Left a widow, with a family of ten young children, whom she had to bring up, without any assistance, Mrs Goodall’s life was a hard and strenuous one. Although of a retiring disposition deceased was a woman of sterling good qualities and of a generous and kindly nature and will be sadly missed by her many relatives and friends. She is survived\by a family of seven—five sons, Leonard William, Edgar Charles, and Bertie John (Riwaka), Clarke Welby and Thomas (East Takaka); and two daughters—Mesdames J. Smart (Wellington), and Phil Woolf (Bainham). There are thirty-five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. The funeral, which was largely attended took place on Sunday afternoon at the Riwaka cemetery, the Rev. G. A. Grossman officiating at the graveside.
