FUTURE CONTROL An announcement is expected shortly as to the Government's future policy in respect of radio broadcasting (reports the Wellington correspondent of the Christchurch “Press”). it is believed that Cabinet has under consideration only one alternative to tlio present system and that it- is control by an independent hoard on the lines of tho British Bioadcast.ing Corporation. Hitch a hoard would he tree from political control and on the line's of the recenllyappoinled Railways Board. It- would not ho run hy any Government Department, tho Post and Telegraph Department merely collecting the listeners’ fees as tit present. The Radio Broad casting Company's seven-year lease of the monopoly to broadcast expires at, the end of the present year, but ns already announced by the Hon. J. B. Donald, (he lease will not be renewed.
