The last meeting of the Loyal Howard 1 ,odgo was notable not only for the re- ' cord attendance of members and visitors, I but also on account of the fact Unit the , Lower Moutero Rranch (Motueka) at- 1 (ended in force to contest with the Howard Lodge (he rendering of the lodge ritual. The contest embraced the open- j inir and closing of the Lodge, procedure of business, and initiation of candidates. 'Hie officials l i f the Lower Moutero |1 ranch opened the. proceedings, tho Howard Lodge following. The officers of both lodges gave admirable renderings, and the addresses to the newlyelected candidates, given by Sister Anderson (Moutero) and Sister .M. M. Wells (Howard) respectively, were exceptionally well given. The judges were liro. 1. Tunniclilfe, P.D.G.M., Mansion of Peace Lodge, and Rro. Dormer, P.G.. of Wellington. The decision was made in favour of Lower Moutero by a narrow margin. Hollowing the contest refreshments were partaken, many members remaining for a social gathering. J
