After 33 years’ service in the Rail way Department Mr W. R. Davidson, Assistant Chief Engineer, has retired on superannuation. He joined the servin' in 1398 as a drafting cadet in the signal and electrical engineer's office. On completing liis cadetship lie went to tho District Engineer’s office at Christ-r-hmvli, from which position ho was ' rmsb’rred to Wanganui in 1905. While there Mr Davidson, qualified ns associate member of the Institute of Civil Engineers and became Assistant Engineer. Among the works, with which ho. was associated at this time were the Wanganui deviation and the Now Plymouth deviation.—Press Association.
