The Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education, spent the week-end in Nelson and returns to Wellington this evening. The Rev. John Takle, having accepted tlie invitation of the Richmond Baptist Church to be its minister, 3lrs Takle and their daughters have come from Christchurch and are settled in Richmond. The death occurred at Wellington on Saturday of Mr Arthur A. George, head of the drapery firm of George and George, of Wellington and Petone. The late Mr George, who was only indisposed for a few weeks, was a native of Victoria, and arrived in Wellington about 35 years ago, when with his brother he founded the firm of George and George, a partnership which lasted until Mr Lance George’s retirement some two years ago. Mr George was keenly interested in sport. He was an expresident of the Newtown Tennis Club and patron of the Evans Bay /Motorboat and Yacht Club. He was also an enthusiastic ./Mason, and founded Lodge Mokoia. Three years ago he was grand treasurer of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand. He leaves a widow and an adult family of three, • Messrs A. L. and B. D. A. George, and Mrs Noel Manthel.
